I've got the opportunity to purchase a matching set of complete t-tops, a pair of "deluxe" door panels, a t-top center panel, and a pair of rear roof panels - all of which are supposedly original items - for $475.
It sure sounds like a good deal to me - what do you all think?
I saw the parts last night and did a very brief test fit with the t-tops. Everything seems to be in pretty good shape - just dirty from sitting around for so long. The coverings on all of the panels are free of any obvious blemishes and they appear to be structurally sound. The only thing that really sticks out is that the two mount holes on the t-top center panel where it joins up with the windshield header are broken so I would have to repair those. The owner also told me that if he has a spare power window harness and other little components that I would be able to go back later and get them for free or next to nothing. He's a local guy so I know where he lives and he told me that if something doesn't work out for me that I could always just take the parts back to him.
Hi,
If these are GOOD parts why aren't they on a car?
If I were selling something I think I'd clean it up so it looked as valuable as possable.
Regards,
Alan
The owner had purchased two 68s which were project cars - one of which is the donor vehicle and was basically completely disassembled when he bought it. These are extra parts from the donor car that he doesn't need for his project.
If I were selling them I would definitely clean everything up first, but he doesn't seem too concerned about that. He's almost made his money back from selling off other parts that he doesn't need so it appears he's not too concerned with putting some time into cleaning up parts he's not going to use in his vehicle.
