Default celebrity's car

Discovered, my LT-1 was originally purchased by a celebrity. His name is Terry Efaw founding member of the country group McGuffey Lane. I emailed him and had a nice little exchange of information. Here is a little information I found about the group.

McGuffey Lane is an American country rock band from Columbus, Ohio. McGuffey Lane was formed in 1972 by Terry Efaw and Steve Reis, who played together under the name Scotch & Soda. After adding vocalist and guitarist Bobby Gene McNelly, they renamed themselves McGuffey Lane, the location of Reis's Athens, Ohio home.
They eventually expanded to a sextet and became well-known locally, releasing their first album on their own Paradise Island record label. The LP sold over 40,000 copies,[1] and eventually resulted in their signing with Atco Records. They reissued the debut in 1980 and toured with the Charlie Daniels Band, The Judds and the Allman Brothers Band. The follow-up, Aqua Dream, featured the single "Start It All Over", which became a crossover pop hit, reaching #97 on the Billboard Hot 100.[2]
The group scored several minor hits on the country charts, but their label wanted to market them more as a pop-country act in the vein of Alabama. They moved to Atlantic Records in hopes of focusing on success on the country charts, but as they prepared 1984's Day By Day, keyboardist Tebes Douglass was killed in a car crash. Soon after, Bobby Gene McNelly left the group to pursue a solo career, and around 1985 the group was dropped from Atlantic. In 1986, they released a Christmas album in support of the Central Ohio Lung Association; towards the end of the year they inked a sponsorship with Miller Beer, but a planned comeback fizzled.
The group played into the late 1980s but had dissolved by 1990. In 1995 they reunited after releasing a greatest hits album, and continued performing locally in Ohio into the 2000s. Two full-length releases followed the reunion, in 1998 and 2002. Today, McGuffey Lane still performs 30-35 concerts annually. In March 2010, Lick Records signed a distribution deal with E1 Entertainment, which will allow the new McGuffey Lane album to be sold in Wal-Mart and Best Buy. On August 18, 2009 they opened for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, Lynyrd Skynyrd, at The LC in Columbus, Ohio

I would call that a low threshold for celebrity status.

Yes he did. He said that he had it painted Laguna Gray because some "A" hole keyed it. He told me that he had removed all the A.I.R. parts and of course I asked if he still had them...no! Was the answer. He remarked how fast the car was. The car was never wrecked and he said it still looks like it did when he owned it. He also told me about the Chevelles he had and hopped up. He now owns a Cobra Mustang.

Well I've never heard of him...but is he gonna send you any posters, cd's or signed autographs for all the trouble you went through tracking him down? Good thing he's famous otherwise he might have got you for stalking.

No offense , but we now know more about him than the car.

It the Corvette forum , not the old who's who of country music forum. Unless you bought the car from him , not sure how important it is that he never wrecked the car.

Have you contacted all previous owners to see if none of them ever wrecked the car?

Regards
David

I think that is pretty cool... sad that some on this forum are so negetive. I don't know the band, but I am sure the original owner of my car was just an average joe just like me. Good job. Nice car

I did buy the car from a buddy of mine who purchased it from Terry. So I do now know the whole history of the car. Never wrecked, motor, tranny or rear end have never been out of the car. But nobody but me, has any old pictures. I have owned it for 28 years.

I enjoyed reading your story and very interesting. Not many of us know the history of our cars past the last few years.
Interesting he had it repainted Laguna Grey. Was it originally Steel Cities Grey?
