1976 Steering Column
I am putting in a Borgeson PS box and can't get the rear portion of my old rag joint off the column (I'm assuming that the spline is damaged at the end of the column but I can't really tell), so I am going to plan B for centering the steering wheel...if the wheel spline is not keyed.
Thanks
However, there are problems with the standard (non-adjustable) column. If you have a standard column, there is a plastic horn tower that sticks up through a slot in the locking plate. The locking plate is keyed to the steering column shaft. That tower must fit through the slot in the locking plate as well as fit through a matching hole in the steering wheel hub. The slot allows only a limited amount of engagement (about a total of two splines) of the steering wheel hub to the steering column shaft.

I going to demonstrate how dumb I am and say that I have tilt, but not sure about telescoping. I haven't seen a way to move the wheel forward and rear (not that I've really looked). I guess I'll assume that that t&t were options that go together?
Is there anything unusual about getting it apart to get to the spline? and do I need to do any adjusting to get my signals to turn off correctly? Is the 68 column significantly different in the signal operation (so I can use my own manuals)?
