Default Front end question.

I am looking to buy older model vette when I came across one. odd thing about is the front end is different. fenders, hood and nose but below nose isnt. look at pic and let me know what you think. bout to buy it and need to know if it is part of a vette or something else, never seen front end like this. disregard the white/red color change, only interested in the front end so i could order a correct front end if needed when i go get it.

thanks

I would be carefull of anything missing to return it back to original. That bumper sits too far back to have original bumper supports by the looks of it. Also if You dont have experience replacing front clip and have to buy one that has all the inner fenders and such jig set, it will cost You more than the car is worth just for the clip. Just My 2 cents.

Don't waste your time with this one unless you're looking for a long term project and have a lot of $$$$$!
BTW-The bumper is upside down!
This is BUBBA at his best!

Pass on this one and keep looking.

Buy a copy of this and see what real C3s look like. Good reference; covers all model years.

There's probably mods in the engine bay that caused the owner to raise the hood so there may be more to it than frame modifications needed to make a correct clip fit.

says its a 1980. from pix interior and exterior look fantastic, just the front end. figured engine mod required different hood (or owner just wanted cool looking hood). since i know these have roll up lights and the whole light assembly/body missing in the front guessing he made change that the car didnt agree with.

Here’s my take on it. Someone popped the nose on this car and rather than spend the money to repair it correctly (which could have easily exceeded the value of it) they worked with what they had. I cannot see why anyone would do what has been done to this car for any other reason. I wonder if the title is a salvage title?

I agree it is a eye sore to see someone chop this car to point cost way to much to fix than the value of the car given the condition the car is in. Great project for someone with alot of money and thats not me haha. Yeah guessing the owner had to do something and took it off and did not research the cost of fixing it and found out after the fact and well pretty much did it way he could afford by placing the bumper on in the wrong spot. Ill just keep looking for one.
