Hi im new here...In the market for my first vette...dead set on a 68 or 69...must have coupe and side pipes...would love a 427 that seems a little out of my price range for this first purchase...maybe I can find one with a 427 hood haha.
Question is...If I find a deal and everything seems spot on for me other than having side pipes...whats a round about cost for adding them and what about the existing holes where the rear exhaust is. I have seen some photos where it looks like people just leave the holes there or I guess they could be covered...of course if left original exhaust could be put back if desired...right? Whats your opinion on it? Like I said, new here and new to vettes other than the reading and searching I have been doing online over the years...any help appreciated! Cheers!
Hi Mike,
Corey's info is right on and his car sure looks terrific.
The aftermarket filler panels often require a bit of bodywork to fit well before painting... just to alert you.
69 cars with the side exhaust option had a straight seam under the rear bumper. The valance panel and quarter panels were dfferent for side exhaust cars.
I'll post my 'just bragging a bit ' picture.
Regards,

Welcome to the forum and the madness. You will never regret getting a '68 or '69 coupe. I've had mine for over six years and enjoy both driving it and working on it more every day. Only problem is running out of money. You may want to think twice about those shiny chrome leg-burning Hookers. They look great for being after market, but Corey obviously went from them to OEM for a reason. I bought new 2-1/2" reproduction pipes from Allen's Exhaust for less restriction to my rebuilt 427 and used my original covers. If you want loud, they are downright obnoxious.
