Default Just bought a 79

Hey guys,

I'm back in the C3 section... took about 5 years but i am here. Bought a 79 today. It popped up on craigslist, it was a good price, I pulled the trigger... I consider it an early Christmas gift...... to myself.

Pictures will follow, its not much of a looker at this point but its a good base to start with. I needs paint bad... it will get it soon.

It also needs a hood. I am interested in something with a small scoop. Back in the day my dad had one on his 72, but he sold the car and the hood and I haven't seen one since... anyone know where I can get one?

Pictures to follow,

DG

Congratulations, and best of luck with your acquisition. '79 Corvettes will always be special for me.

My wife bought a '79 brand new, back when we were just dating. We broke up a while later, and didn't see each other for a number of years, but when the '79 needed a few small repairs, and she couldn't find anybody to do the work correctly, she coaxed her mother into calling me. I fixed the car, we got back together, and got married the following year.

I know what you mean about the car needing paint....my wife's needed paint from the day she took delivery of it!!!

Try Ecklers, MidAmerica, or Corvette Central for the hood. I always liked the "big block" hoods....

Nothing wrong with a present to yourself, and a 79 is hard to beat. Yes, of course I'm biased.

I picked one up last month.. A great addition to my 98.. I had an 80 for 20 years and sold it a few years back. Missed it so much I had to get another C3. Mine is an L48 4 speed.. I just added the Rally's last week. I'm not a big fan of the aluminium wheels.. Congratulations! (yes, mine needs paint)

Great choice we own a 1979 L82 Manual close ratio and it brings a lot of pleasure all the way down here in New Zealand

Thanks for the warm welcome back... this was always a cool section of the Corvette Forum...

Car needs a lot of work but it has good potential and the price was right so I jumped on it. I keep saying I will post pictures but I get home late every night.... will have to wait till my days off I guess.
