I need to replace an inferior brand of weatherstrip (bought at a Corvette show) to a better product. I have a '72 Stingray, and am looking at the Willcox part #B462L-R weatherstrip. According to our forum, this is an excellent product that is made by CRC.
And, I see there is an 8 piece t-top screw set that is designed for this product. Are these screws necessary? Do they replace some of the plastic guide pins? I don't know why I should need screws. Does anyone know if/why these screws are needed?
Hi Jim,
I believe you'll find the screws may be for the side retainer that the weatherstrip glues into. The screws mount through small holes in the weather strip, through the retainer, through the ss trim strip, and into the roof panel's fiberglass.
Regards,
Alan
Thanks Alan, you are correct. I just found my AIM and see the screws. My old weatherstrip was not secured that way - the screws only held the chrome strip and not the rubber. The rubber was just cemented to the strip.
Thanks again!
