This year as well as last year I passed by this place on the way to attend the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show. It's located in Chillicothe, IL. There are about 25- C3's and C4's there as well as 3rd generation camaro, a couple Trans AMs and Mustangs. The cars have been there for years according to some of the locals. I didn't post pictures of the C4's or other cars.... Sad, very sad.
They are for sale. When I stopped and looked at them I could see where there once had the year and prices marked on the windshield.. looked like he used white shoe polish and the rain had washed most of it away.
Hmmm. Might be a matter of perspective. Some see it as sad; I see it as a potentially nice place to shop.
Yes, hopefully many get restored!!!
There is a place like that close to where I live, in fact, when I first drove by it, it was precisely when the light bulb went off in my head to buy an older Corvette...
It can be a sad place, but I was like a kid in the candy store....At the end I did not buy my Vette from there, but it was certainly the begining of my life with a C3. I still have the lot owner's business card which says: "Drive a love affair" ....although his vehicles were far from that. On the other hand when you are looking at all those cars in the rough, you cannot stop thinking what could you do with it if you brought 1 home...

There is one of those yards an hr from me. 6 yrs ago when i was looking for a running project i stopped by and talked to the owner, probably has 20-30 cars that needed work done to them. I was there 2 wks ago lookin around, same cars and most all had flat tires and a few even had the windows opened a little for the moss to grow on the seats. the owners dad came out said that they were still for sale and if they didnt sell he was going to restore them as time allowed.
Such a shame, I'm guessing his prices are too high.
Some are my faves are the 78 T/A blue with blue wheels, yellow C3s and C4, 69 wide, and light blue metallic C3 behind the blue 3rd gen Firebird. He has a cool collection with lots of Vettes, some Stangs, F-bodies, mid 70s Nova, and even some G-bodies. I'm guessing he wants too much especially in today's market. Any of these cars that are in the relatively good/survivor type condition are going to drop in price first as the paint, interior, etc starts to go down hill. What is that one vert in the 4th pic of the second post?
