I have a set of Cragar SS610 Thrust style 17" x 9", 5 X 4.75 bolt pattern, 0 MM offset with 275/40/17 's that I pulled off my Trans Am before I sold it.
They only have 3K miles on them & are still MINT!
Are 9" direct fits, or are 8" rims as wide as one can go on a C3?
I'd jack it up & pull a wheel or 2, but my Cragars are buried in my closet & it's kinda cold now up here in MA to be experimenting (I don't have a garage either).
Here's how they looked on my TA:
Well I was able to answer my question today since the weather was "warm" & I had some time.
No, my 17x9's with a 0 MM offset will not work on my C3.
The reason, they are 9's.
The insides of the rims hit the suspension parts, but not by much.
8's seem like they would work.
I do get confused with offset & backspacing, what should work, what won't. I've done searches with no definitive answers.
I've seen sellers on ebay have 0, -12 & -18 MM offsets saying they all fit a C3.
My question, on a 15" rim, what is the recommended offset & backspacing & on a 17", same question.
this is the vette/reason i ordered these.... will be here in 2 more weeks!!!!! they got the front ones made, working on the 18X10 for the back! the only difference is the spokes are going to be brushed, and the drum polished...
I have always liked the Rally wheels! My 79 came with the aluminum wheels, so I put a "wanted" add on Craigs list and scored an original set of Rally's with NEW tires for $400.
