Default Rear compartment door options

My rear fiberboard compartment doors in my 69 have seen their days. The screws were stripped out of the holes and if they weren't they broke the fiber board at the hinge area.

Anyone do anything cool with theirs? I have new carpet to install on them.

I just didn't know if anyone here made new ones out of plywood, plastic.....
I guess I could use some glue on the old ones and probably bring them back to working order...

I'm also missing the trim from around 1 of them... I haven't looked at the vette websites to see if they sell them so i better do that i guess.

Hi PV,
New doors are available for a price that makes cutting your own not really worth it.
Regards,
Alan

I bought a rebuild kit for mine from Zip which included the surround, hinges, door trim and carpet.

To put it all together I had to strip the old doors and reuse them.

Although it went together well, if I were to do it again, I'd buy a complete replacement unit.

This is one of these items where you don't really save much with the DIY route, so my recommendation is to get on line and order a new completed assembly.

They look to be about $40+shipping from the parts stores....

Whereas a sheet of plywood should only cost....$6?

I agree with the others, get the assembled unit. ZIP does have both wood, and original style fiber board doors.

Hi PV,
Sorry, in some cars plywood isn't a suitable replacement.

Thinking about making my replacements out of oak or some other nice wood and finishing with a dark stain, eventually... (no carpet on top)

I made mine from a sheet of dark grey plastic called Nylatron. Never have to worry about them getting wet. Probably expensive to buy, but I got drops from work.
