Since this car I've been working on is for the wife. She decided she would like the stock ralley wheels back on the car. However, they have some rust along where the wheels are welded together.
I was thinking of having them media blasted and powder coated to a satin black to accent the chrome beauty rings and center cap. Any thoughts on this madness?
od can I just do the blasting myself and spray them with some engine paint?
Rustoleum works just fine. They have a high performance enamel that is great for wheels. I used it on the holes and center of a set of C3 aluminum wheels and it looks great and holds up extremely well.
i am actually getting rid of my rally wheels next month once I get the car shipped down from texas to Fl. I have the oem aluminum ones ready to go on. my plan was to get rid of them if anyone wants them let me know.

Shouldn't color selection be up to your wife? It's her car. Better ask before you get into a heap o' trouble.
Thank you. Just found out how much it will run to have them blasted and powder coated. I think I'll media blast them myself and take my time to paint them.

Any suggestion on what size tire to put back on them. I wanted to go slight wider than the 225/70R 15. I was thinking of 255/ 60R 15.
I plan to put 255/60 all the way around when its time for my next set. When I bought the car they had 235/70 on the rear and 225/70 on the front. If you are considering going wider than 255/60 this may be helpful.
If you want to go with better tires for her, Wheel Vintiques has both steel and billet 17 & 18" rallye wheels. The steel are not too expensive the billet are fairly expensive.
did you have to perform the emergency brake cable bracket mod in order to mount the 255's?
she likes the stock silver color not to mention the prize for restoring the stock is better than the vintage wheels I was going to getfrom American racing. Now that I have a visual on what the stock looks like all clean up. I am for them as well.
