No, no, and no. I've spent too much time cleaning, replacing, repainting and want to keep it looking good -- inside, outside and underneath. I drive it to work a few times a year and hop in it everyday afterwork when the weather is nice. It's just a fun car for me to play with. As a teenager, I learned the hard way that having a DD to play with spelled disaster. By disaster I mean replacing transmission outside in 20 degree weather because I have to go to work later that day. Ruined the fun for me. Now I have a garage and nothing but time (need more money though ) to work on. I like working on cars again.

OK Lane...you said it, now I'm gonna hold you to it! Get over here to Old Hickory ASAP....I have enough of the "thing you love to do" to keep you busy all winter!

And as for the post...my Vette is not a DD...but I would drive it every day if I could.

Hey Bobby, thought you might have given the hobby up. We need to get together. What do you know about chasing electrical gremlins?
My 81 is a DD and only driver no matter the weather conditions, with the right tires on the back and 70 lbs of sand in the back snow and ice is no problem handles awesome fun to blast through the snow too passing up chained up vehicles. Bought to drive and that is what I do, can't imagine driving anything else256k on original engine, that being said improvements include: seat heaters, auto dimming mirror with compass and temp, custom rack and pinion conversion, alpine stereo with sat radio and car phone system, headlight upgrade, keyless entry, LT1 exh tips, custom speaker box across the back, built OD onthe way as well as high performance tpi injection system. Pretty reliable vehicle, easy to work if you are fairly knowledgeable, if you are not then maybe not a good DD unless low miles. Paint jobs around here in the northwest seem to only last about 5,6 years though due to rock chips. If you can wrench and paint DD no problem!
And lastly... If your C3 was cosmetically and mechanically sound with modern improvements (such as: OD transmission, modern stereo, cold a/c, modern seats, modern rubber), would you consider making it a DD? Why or why not?
Looking forward to your responses!
Mine is driven a lot, but I don't guess its a DD since I drive my truck when it rains, or snows or I just don't feel like pulling it out and waking the neighbors. But in the summer I drive it almost every day. And in the winter on sunny days.
I've not have my 82 a month yet & it's not been daily driven as I like my remote start in my Sebring during these extremely chilly months.
But like my TA's before this, I will drive it as much as I can, snow & salted roads, aside up here in MA.
Is your C3 a daily driver?
No, I'm retired and don't drive every day.
If you could make your C3 a DD, would you?
No, it is currently capable of being driven daily, but, I don't see a good reason to drive a classic car in the rain or snow when I have other options. However, when the weather is nice I do take it to run errands. I get to drive it more that way.

she stays covered for weeks at a time during summer because i'm on the bikes

Well I just got my 77, I drive it to work at least once a week... I drive a Buell year round, because I'm a broke ****... and I can't afford the petrol when driving 75 miles a day to work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TAqIkCf6QM
Mine was my DD and will be again when I get the new motor in it. Gas gets expensive for it driving it that much but I just can't bear to let it sit. That and we don't get too much bad weather here in Phoenix.
I dont have a C3 as a daily driver, but I do have a 1986 C4 that is pretty close. I drive my 75 on Fridays if it is not raining, and use my 72 and 73 on the weekends for cruising, or runs to the parts store. During the week I use either my 86 or my jeep for getting to work.
Here is my soon to be (once I get my license) high school daily driver:
My 1974
My dad and I are restoring it and it is an awesome car to work on and drive! I am installing a TPI system into it over the summer, so it will have even more DD "capabilities".
Not in NJ. The weather here would make using my 41 year old convertible impractical at best

My car is cosmetically sound. Mechanically, it has a few problems, but nothing that would keep me from driving it. In fact, I am in the process of installing shoulder belts. Once that is completed, the only modern thing I would want in a car that it doesn't have is ABS brakes.
As soon as I am finished with the going to work everyday thing, I am planning on moving out of the Garden State. Depending where my wife and I decide to move, Beautiful Blue may yet return to the ranks of daily drivers.
