My first 3 Corvettes (71, 72, 80) were my daily drivers for around 15 years but this one is not.
I enjoy the thrill of pulling off the cover and getting out and playing with it from time to time but not everyday.
my '81 is not a DD just my toy for the week ends in the summer. I always look forward to getting home to drive the car after work. I only drive to work once or twice a year.
Nice car! Is that a little Lake Norman or Wylie in the background?
Nice eye. It's Wylie with the Allen steam plant in the background.
That a nice vette you have there, Will. I bough this one too before I had my licence. The first day driving my vette to school after restoring it was one of the most amazing days. You are going to have so much fun once you get your license.

Thank you! Haha I know what you mean, I can't wait for that day (It's coming soon, May 2) I'm going to take it out for a cruise this weekend, now that the roads are better.
My Friends '72 Nova that we have been restoring is going to be on the road soon. It has a 396, and was a drag racer, it will soon have a 5 speed. That will also be an awesome day.
Thanks for the responses guys! I am surprised to see how many of u actually DD your cars!

What rides better? Your C3's or your C4? I have never owned a C4, but I had a friend who had an '88. She took me for a ride in it and I would swear to you that my C3 rode sooo much smoother!

Congrats on the car!! Take good care of it and be careful! Your story is very similar to mine actually.. I DD'd a white '73 L82 coupe in high school and I had a buddy with a yellow '72 Nova w/ a 350. The best thing is to know and appreciate what you have. You will have people compliment it and you will have haters knock it down. Don't let anyone convince you that your buddy's Nova is better.
At times, my biggest problem was realizing my car was 30 some years old. Once I accepted the fact that my car was/is old and that things were not going to work 100%, I was then able to enjoy my car to the fullest!
Most important thing... Don't for get to save the wave!
got a 72 and its the only car I own. this winter is the last I car pool because I plan of repainting my frame inside and out to keep out the salt. just found the best all season tires and next winter I will put them the the test. if your around the Arlington Park race track (horses not cars) flag down the white vert.
i have a 1980 4speed that has a high performance rebuilt engine...i used to drive it a short distance to work daily but just recently got a 2nd car to go to work and back...i miss driving my car everyday, though. the up side is that i cannot wait to get home to take my car out for a spin. i do take out on the interstate frequently and "open it up" just "cause i can. also, i can do some small repair work on my car and be patient because i do not have to take it to work the next day.
I don't drive mine to work, but like others of you I very much enjoy coming home and taking the vette out for a spin on a nice evening. All my problems disappear when o step on the gas heading onto the highway. Man I wish I could go right now but it's way too cold and snowy here for atleast three more months.
I used mine for a DD for about a year before i tore it apart to paint it. Then it was driven all during summer. I was only a few miles from work, and gas was a lot cheaper. now i am almost 30 miles from work so it goes a couple days a week and is driven on weekends during summer. no 5-speed yet so the modified big block doesn't do me any favors at the gas pump as stated in an earlier post its smiles per gallon

Cool story, that is like a carbon copy of my situation! Dont worry, no one will convince me that a Nova is better than my Vette (even though his Nova is awesome!). My Parents and I enjoy the car thoroughly, It is such a great car. I cant wait until spring for cruises and me getting my license!
Also, The wave will continue, every Vette / muscle car I see gets a good wave!
Heck where i live it snows, the old gal has to much get an go in her.3-55 rears and a l-82,just sits on snow and spins,so she goes into garage an waits till spring, untill first good rain to wash salt off road
