If its never been done before, it probably couldnt hurt to disassemble and clean everything up then inspect and lube up before reassembly.

this process will also let you check for any binding parts that could cause the window to be slow.

On the driver side, I would remove the motor and test it.

John's got the right idea. You will be surprised what you find and over 30 years, how much gunk detracts from performance. I did my 78 door locks and also cleaned up the windows tracts. You may need to replace the power window actuators (motor).

Default Good Timing

I am having a similar issue with my 77 and I guess it is time to dig into the door panels this winter and pull those motors, then clean up the interiors.
I have been procrastinating this for a few months now but they are not working well so no better time than when the snow is on the ground I guess to get this done.

I do not wish to hijack your thread, but maybe to ask if anyone following the original request knows a good article on the repairs being proposed on the original thread could you share them with us here? Sure appreciate your help.

Good post and good timing for me, thank you for all the help.

Check the wires that are between the door and the frame.

I had the same issues... Pulled mine apart, soaked/cleaned/scrubbed/greased/etc... and then realigned and now they work better!
