Default My ***** Won't Move

So I got the kit that comes with 2 new Astro-Vent ***** and 4 new felt seals.

I put it all together (properly) and the ***** are way too tight in the new felts to turn.
I tried a little talc on the felts and still no help, my ***** are very sticky.

I presume that someone here has actually had to deal with this? What did you do?
I did save the old felts - but I'd feel really defeated if I had to put them back in.

Thanks in advance....

-W

They'll shrink up later when it's colder...

Define "sticky". With new felts, the vent ***** should be snug, but should move.

They don't move unless you use super force.
Clearly too "sticky" - by a longshot.

They will ease up after a bit of use, my were very snug when first rebuilt, but have loosened up over time.

I put the old felts back in with the new ball. They were tight enough to break something.
Seems my new ***** are slightly out of round.
They are good when closed and tight as hell when open.

In the past, someone posted that repro vent ***** were slightly larger in diameter. When my felts lost their adhesive I used some open cell weatherstrip like on the center A/C outlets. It is more compressible and does not hold your ***** too tight. mike...

My new ***** are indeed out of round.
They are fine in the closed position and tight as hell when open.

I first took some fine grit sandpaper to the rough area on my *****, then i washed them real good , and finally lubed them up with a bit of vaseline . Popped them back in and they are as good as the day i was born.
