You can stay together...just takes some thought! Lead car watches and gets a good jump on the light...this goes for the next 5 /6 cars...then if everyone stays tight...good chance eveyone gets through!!

If not....lead car (as stated above) pulls caravan over so rest of cars can join. To continue...if lead car has radio, so as to converse with last car.... on command, last car pulls out onto roadway...stopping public, from there all caravan cars resume Muddy

I pulled the rocker arms off yesterday and tried to push down on the springs....no give. They do have what looks like an internal spring that I can't check with the springs assembled, could this be causing problems?

That is the damper spring, it is made to help element harmonics of the spring, and it will help prevent the valve from hitting the piston in many cases (as it did for me) it he spring breaks. it can depend on where the spring is broken, if near the ends it can give the systems you speak of,... again, i know this because it happened to me.

For a valve to bend it usually has to hit the piston... over revving or valve float of some type..just double check the springs on that piston real good...

do you have a air compressor? put about 80psi through the spark-plug hole and listen to which valve is leaking, the exhaust or intake....

It's my understanding Randy...it can. If I recall when I was trouble shooting my engine (slight miss) to check the inner valve spring...which is really hidden You can remove it... find a place to check compression! Muddy

Randy..if you go TDC ( on # 8) ...pull keepers, spring, shouldn't you be able to move by hand valve stem up and down through the guide? Seems if it was bent...it would not be easy to do so? Just a thought....Muddy

be carful not to drop the valve in the piston hole..you should always have air pressure in the spark plug hole when removing the spring and have that piston at TDC.

Yes... I did use air when I replace all my valve seals. But you only need the air to reinstall the spring and keepers ..of course if (and make sure) the piston your workin on is at TDC!! Muddy

OK, went out and pulled the spring, with the air compressor raving the whole time because of the leaky valve. There is an inner, a dampner, and an outer, none of which are broken or show any signs of damage.

I should have pointed out that this engine has had this problem for quite a while now, at first I thought it might be because of the stout cam I'm running(.565 lift, 286 duration), or an ignition issue(running MSD box and distributor), only recently that I've had the time to give this my full-on attention was I able to narrow it down. So the head will come off tomorrow, look for pix

Oh well...so much for the easy way Lookn' for pic's Muddy

edit: Randy, you only need about 15/20 psi to hold the valve up!

Yeah, I can never get a break

Didn't know that's all it took to hold the valves up.....but as badly as this valve leaks I don't know if 20 psi would have done it

It's the exhaust valve. When holding my ear up to the tailpipe with the air on I can definitely hear it/ feel a breeze. I pulled off the throttle body and can't hear/feel any air coming out

Paul, there is fuel at the park and ride in Camarillo and if remember there's a station just across the street from La Cumbre Plaza.
