Hi, this is one of my first post. I have been around reading and learning since a little while. I always have been corvette lover. Im now in the market to buy a vette... Here in canada the good one at a good price are hard to find.
I have spotted a guys who own 6 c3 in my town. All those car are in OK shape but havent run for 10+ years...
One of the vette he own is a 79 l-82, 4 speed. It is gray blue interior with front and rear spoiler. The guys (wich i dont think is honnest) said me its a special "Fitipaldi" edition. He said the car came original with a different steering wheel, upgrade suspension and different wheel.
Does anyone of you ever heard of this edition?
whould it be collectable if its a thrue rare model?
Although I have never heard on this, it does not mean it not real. Make him prove his claim by producing paperwork that can confirm it’s legit. Talk is cheap, if he wants to sell it stating it a special edition etc, then he needs to be able to back it up with proof.
About the only way there could be a Fittipaldi "edition" was if there was a fittipaldi chevy dealer and they did some sort of in house thing like a very few other dealerships did. However I doubt very much it would have had anything different in the suspension or engine.
Hi Ff,
In the late 70s the Corvette dealers often did a little 'superficial' work to cars once they reached the dealership in order to try to create sales.
Whether those cars have added or reduced value now is up to each individual buyer.
Here's another example of a 'Special Edition" car done by a dealer.

Alan
That's funny!
Wasn't Emerson Fittipaldi a Ford man.
Throughout his F1 carrier he was, his F1 cars were powered by Cosworth-Ford DFV's or DFY's. Most of his years in CART though, he had Chevrolet power.
When he first went to Patrick Racing, they were using Cosworths, but Patrick switched to the Ilmor-Chevy Indycar engine around 86. When he later drove for Penske, they used the Ilmor-Chevy also, except the last year or two of his carrier, when they used the Mercedes badged version of the Ilmor-Chevy.
I've never heard of a Fitipaldi (or Fittipaldi) Edition 79 Corvette, but there have been Fittipaldi brand wheels on the market. This may be enough for someone to think that he had an official "Fittipaldi Edition" Corvette.

Alan, one of those cars recently surfaced a few weeks back when someone posted about a 1976 "Bicentennial Edition" Corvette here on the forum. They might have posted an eBay link, but it was a few weeks ago. Some people were commenting about that god awful stripe.
Thanks guys for the answer!! Thats what i taught but i just wanted to be sure just in case....
From the reputation of the owner of those vette thats nothing surprising. He often try to make some bs storie about the car. He is known as a crook.
I want a C3 badly and here in canada their getting harder to find.(rusty )
Those one are just couple minute drives... next closest one is 8 hours drive.
I took a few picture "the special one" is the 79 silver. Id take more but all those car are now burried in snow.
BTW im in the market to buy the right C3. pm me offer
Going by the 'A Vendre' sign, I'm going to guess that you're in Quebec. As others have said, the seller is full of sh*t, there is no fitti-anything special edition. That's a mild custom. Tell him that it'll cost 5K to bring the car back to stock and that's how you'll price your offer.
Hi Paul,
I remember the thead from a couple of weeks ago. In fact I found the article for that member and sent it to him at that time. That's why I happen to have it in my scans.
I don't have very much interest in those kinds of mods and cars, but he was quite interested in the car he was looking at.
Regards,
Alan
So what's he wanting for it?
It looks pretty nice.
Who cares about the aftermarket wheels.
If the price is right and the car is clean, why keep shopping?
The picture make it look cleaner.
Interior is torn with some fongus on the leather..
Car didnt run since 15+ years (talk about can of worm).
Some sign of rust under the windshear.
He wants 12 k$ and he prefer to see them rot than drop his price 1$.
When i see the cars you can buy in the us for around 15k their no way this one worth that..
No such thing listed in the Corvette Black Book, nor have I ever heard of a Fitipaldi edition. My opinion is that the seller is full of something stinky!

No such thing as a "Fitipaldi". Everything your friend lists was standard or an available option for the 79s. Your friend can go here http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...x.php?cmd=area and attempt to obtain a copy of the original dealer invoice for his car. It will list all the options the car left St. Louis with. Nothing "Fitipaldi" will be on the invoice.
