With all the numbers involved with our hobby has anyone compiled numbers of C3's still on the road? we have corvette salvage yards and fellow members parting out vettes.. has anybody taken the time to compile a rough database of C3's that have been put to rest? wonder how many parted out vettes our forum members have put to sleep....
there's a C3 registry, but, i doubt there is any real way to even get a good guess unless you could get to all the state DMV departments and see if they would part with their number. based on that, i;m guessing the answer is there is no way to really tell.
That would never be possible. There are many projects just sitting in garages, cars in private collections, etc. It would be cool to know but unfortunately never will be.

OK maybe I'm missing something but the OP said rough database. I've parted several cars , so those are dead and will never be revived. Add those to others that have been parted and I would think a "rough" idea could be formed. Right ?

How would you get a reliable figure on how many C3s may have been parted out over the years? Likewise, how could you come up with a reliable figure on the possible number of crashed cars, fire cars, stolen, etc.? And lastly, how could you come up with a reliable figure on how many are out there now and still alive?
We could speculate 25% of them are gone, but without actual data, we would all be guessing.
probably computer literacy is a major roadblock.. the C3 registry is only a minor start.. looks like less than 1%.. most c3 owners have never heard of the C3 registry.
the ability to get past privacy laws and seek out the DMV databases is the biggest stopper.. it just ain't happening.
Much like the 'how rare is my car' thing, an accurate number would be impossible to determine.
When you go to sell, they are ALL rare, duh! Just check e-bay if you have any doubts. Sometimes it's like you just don't want to understand. Geeeeeeezzzz!

I did the calculations on my car and it's is apparently less than one of one, ie it doesn't exist. Can't sell something that doesn't exist so I really screwed myself.

Wow, who saw that one coming?
In summer time, I often ask myself "Why is that frisbee getting bigger?" Then, it hits me. Often in the face.
This may not make sense at first. But, if you sit down and take the time to sift through my posts to clearly understand their underlying meaning, within just a few minutes, you'll realize you've wasted your time.
As a friend who tends to mix metaphors once said, I'm a sandwich short of being the brightest knife at the top of the stairs, so your post might take me more than a few minutes to misunderstand.
