Default Little face lift progress

I posted about my plans about a week ago. I got the hood and put it on today. Needs a little more fitting but it closes and the gaps are OK for now. The guy that is going to paint it will line it up and make it fit perfectly. Should look pretty good. Looks to be about 2 1/2 to 3 inches more hood clearance. I was right up against the LT1 hood.

It does look great Gordon, nicely done. Can't wait to see it in paint. Sure changes the whole personality of your 72 Convertible. Going to be awesome.

The hood looks great.
I hope I get the chance to see you and your car in person sometime this season.

Hey Gordon, I just realized that you wanted and needed this hood because you needed the extra clearance. What you packin' under that hood anyway? Curious minds want to know.

Oh, and how did the T-4 turn out for you? All done?

I have to pay attention and keep up with you and forgot to ask earlier.

Thanks Gordon.

I probably mis-spoke. You were putting in a new transmission yes? T-6 maybe. Too many numbers for me to remember them all.

That animal looks fast Gordon. Is that fuel injection you have added in there? Pushing 500+ HP now?

Yes David I have put in the T56 6 speed. It went in last yearand has been great. That was the piece your friend made for me for my console. I still may be able to get it to fit better and work. The trans is in and I have driven it about 800 miles so far with no problems at all.

Yes that is fuel injection. I am all for fuel injection now that I have run this for 2 years. It is expensive but in my mind well worth it. Yes it is most likely in the 500 to 525 HP range now. It was 409 RWHP with a much smaller flat tappet cam and smaller heads and a carb.

Great, thank you Gordon. T-56, now that you mention it I remember that, so thank you.
The guy that made your face plate would like to add the slots in there for you. Oversite can be corrected. If anything else needs to change we can do that too. Let me know. David

I might take you up on that. I'll do some measurements and see what can be done. Maybe if he takes a little off around the edges it will fit better. Let me work on it today and maybe I'll send it up to you to see what he can do.

Looks great and nice to hear that the hood fits well, I know in the past there were some issues with some of the hoods being sold. Where did you order yours from, if I add a new Lt-1 hood to replace my broken one I'd like to know that it will fit fairly well. Right now I have an L88 on the vette, with the original LT-1 hood and a base sb hood sitting in the garage.

The hood came from Ecklers. I got it from a forum member who never mounted it so it is brand new but the Ecklers logo is on the inside of it. Not a perfect fit but you could just leave it as is and it would fit better than most hoods I have seen. I just know the guy who is painting it and he will make it look like it grew on the car.
