Good day,

Is this a correct w/s tank cap for a early '68? Is this OEM or repop? How do you tell the difference between the two? Thanks in advance.

Here is a picture of my April '69 seeing as how none of the '68 gurus have chirped in to help you.

I believe mine is original. The "7" is upside down from yours, there appears to be 2 small mold marks on the side of the tab where yours has one large in the center and my mold mark on the cover, opposite from yours with some identification, has the letters F P C. I really don't know what to tell you. Good luck buddy...you must really be looking for things to do!

It looks to be a 69 and up. The end tab as you can see the underneath ridge does not go to the end.
The 68 tap underneath the bead ridge goes from one end to the other end.

I think the 68 has no embossing on the bottom also for 68 the top of the nib has a wider brace then forms to the small nib.
On the 69 the nib is one size.
