Default Feedback requried on vette please

Hi Vette fans, fanatics etc...

My name is Nathan & Im from Australia.

I am very interested / In Love with this 1969 Stingray Corvette for sale close to where I live.
He is looking around $28,000 mark (Aus dollar same as US dollar atm). Is that expensive in an enthusiats opinion. (It does have a lot of mods) Is the Metalic Blue / Silver colour and original colour?

Heres the advert info...

this is a fully worked 350, stroked to a 405, and is backed up by a 4spd manual and a L.S.D the receipts that i have for this drive train absolutely total into thousands and thousands of dollars, then there would be all the machine work and labour, nothing has been spared on this engine from alloy heads to roller rockers, preformer manifold, 750dbl pumper carb, huge race cam, race alloy radiator, windage sump hi volume oil pump etc... etc .. every conceivable high performance part has been spent on this engine , and seriously THIS VETTE FLYS the vette spent its life in Tennassee and was built and driven till the guys son lost his licence, driving his mums car,and inturn the vette got sold, the interior is new and is the carpets they were replaced a couple of years ago the paint is very good (not perfect ) but very presentable, the body is in excellent shape and shows no signs of being hit, and looks great with the Big Block Hi-Rise Bonnet on it, the 4 speed shifts perfectly this is the ideal vette to be able to just take straight down to the RTA and regerster without all the drama's of engineers as 69 is excempt, apart from the usual roadworthy most everything works on the vette with the exception of aircon, and original taco as these things get taken of or change due to the quest for performance, it has all new exhausts which sound awsome this really is a serious big boy toy, and is still quite driveable on the street, it would be fair to say youd get no change out of $15,000 plus, to build this engine here in Australia.

Early thanks for your opinons nathan

IMO he ruined the value of it by putting in those "thousands and thousands of dollars" in the engine. When someone stresses so much on how much of an engine it has and how fast it is, usually tells me that they ran the crap out of it. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it.

I'd say if you want to go to a car that old, you don't want alot of mods in it. If you want the mods, I'd look for a later year model that wasn't as collectible and save a fortune.

The colour looks close to silver-blue from 1982 and is not original to 1969. It also has an L88 patterned aftermarket hood in the long style meaning the vacuum operated wiper door has been removed.

Thanks for the replys.

I am really looking for a collector i.e untouched.
I am also considering a 74 model which has a 454 unmolestered. the price is round 34K but, is a red which I did not really want. I may keep on looking....

I am not after a newer model to mod up as I have something simular cheers nathan

This is my 2002 GTO UTE

Wow, 34k? Too bad you don't live here. You'd be amazed at what 34 would get you.

Cool UTE. I'm still hoping the powers at GM bring this over here as a reincarnated El Camino.

Man, I love those UTE's. I've had a number of El Caminos over the years and have a 71 currently. We were supposed to get a Pontiac G8 version of the Aussie UTE around 09, but that project died when the Obama Administration killed Pontiac. I was planning on buying one. I'm jealous!

The 69 looks nice, but if your looking for an untouched collector, that car's not for you. The car has been modified way to much to be called "untouched". As others have said, the price seems high (as does the price for the 74). Being that Corvettes are rarer down under, those prices may be fair there, but for the kind of money in the US, you can buy a very nice correct 69.

Maybe some other Aussie members can chime in with a better educated value for Corvettes in your country.

28KAUS is in the ballpark for that car. Unmolested is another 10K.

If you are looking for an 'original' configuration car, that car is NOT such a vehicle. While it is a nice looking car, the color is non-original, the engine is not correct for the car, etc. etc.

Keep looking. You should be able to find an original condition with newer paint [but original color] for less than that amount of money in today's US market.

P.S. If you still have an interest in the car, I live in Tennessee...and if the car is not too far from me, I'd be willing to look at it more closely for you. Send me a PM with more info if you are interested.

Nice UTE (I used to have an El Camino).

The prices on both cars you noted sounded high --- especially the 74.

The ute goes alright it has a ls1, large cam, headers, Cnc heads, otrcai, diff gears & much more...

Not on this site to talk about my daily drive I want my sexy vette weekender. They are pretty much an exotic here. Always been a Gm head & loved the vette from a little tacker. Appreciated the opinions. Nathan
