Default My 76. It is time.

New engine installed, original in the corner of my garage. Electrical ghosts defeated, for now.

It is time for the cosmetic work.

Paint and body: I want to replace the front and back bumpers. What is the best replacement?

After the work under the hood a $10,000 paint job isn't a reality for me. Anyone familiar with the north Texas area with recomendations for a paint/body shop?

Interior: I've seen posts regarding I'll fiting replacement dashes... Suggestions?

Firethorn vs red. This car has a firethorn interior but some of the replacement components aren't offered in firethorn; only red. Is that correct or am I missing something?

Purchasing interior replacement parts:
is there a difference in the parts sold by corvette America, Ecklers, year one, etc?

Insulation under the floor carpet: I've seen several. What's the best for the buck?

Seat covers: the original seatcovers have vertical ribs and the replacements I see in the catalogs are horizontal. Again, am I just looking in the wrong places?

Adam

Finally (for now), any suggestions born from lessons learned during this process are welcome.

"Shooting" the paint on the car is not the expensive portion of a paint job. You can reduce that cost a ton if you do much of the prep work: disassembly/reassembly of necessary parts; stripping old paint; patching damaged areas; initial sanding. I'd leave the finish prep work and sanding/smoothing to the pros...money well spent, IMO. Talk with some car club folks (Corvette and others) in your area to find out who is good at shooting paint. Then contact them and see what can be worked out as to portions you can do vs. what the pro will do...and how much that work will cost.
