Default Rag-Joint: Rebuild, Replace or U-Joint

My rag-joint is pretty well shot....but I'm stuck in my decission...

A) There is a rebuild kit for $15...doesnt look hard - is it ?

B) Could buy a new one for $45

C) Or could get the Flaming-River U-Joint $80

What do you guys think ?

I would replace with another, either decision means you have to remove it to do any work, so just replace...............

If you have read any of Jim Shea's post you will know to go to GM Parts direct and order the gm part for $67 plus shipping or whatever vendor sells gm parts or go to a local dealer and pay whatever they say for the GM steering coupler. Don't skimp on something very important

IMO

with all the rest.

Jim Shea says that there is a problem with all the rebuild kits that the vendors sell - none of them use shoulder bolts. You should buy a new correct rag joint from GMDirect.

Keep your original parts. There is probably nothing wrong with the metal components and you may need them if the "genuine GM" parts [from China but in a GM box] don't appear to be the same.

I got mine from a Chevy dealer in Az . You do not get the nuts and bolts with the package so save everything. The part I got appeared to be exactly the same that I took off. Hopefully that is what you get from this vendor.
