I went crazy with chrome dress up parts and replaced, what appears to be the stock aluminum valve covers on my 1972 LT1. Can someone recomend a shop I can send them to, polish them to a chrome appearance and re-install the "corvette" decal on them.
Hi n2v,
I think it would be a shame to polish your valve covers if they are the originals. It would really decrease their value; especially if they have the push-in rubber oil plug
Paragon sells reproduction valve covers that are quite polished to begin with, and a little additional hand work on your part might well give you the look you're after.

Alan
I had a set of finned Vette valve covers that I had powder coated in silver and to put on my '69 Camaro Z28 clone. They were done by a guy in my car club using Eastwood's hot coat system. They came out great and I got lots of compliments on them at meets. Check out the pics below.
Keep the originals as they are and put them in a box in the garage. Buy another set and get them CHROMED !!!!!! If you have a lot of other chrome in the engine bay, polished can look good but will NEVER have the same luster the chrome does and will look a little off side by side with all the chrome parts. Buy another set and go send them to a CHROME shop.
By the way I have seen a set chromed at a local show, really looks amazing!!!!!
