Default "76 Water neck?

Has anyone bought a chrome waterneck for a 76? I can't find one that's angled 45 degress towards the upper radiator outlet. There's a listing for one pointing that way but its for 67-75, and one side is taller than the other, with a long and a short bolt.
I have on that points straight forwards, but the hose is too short to reach it. Do they make a formed hose thats 2-3" longer that stock?

Those chrome ones suck, always leak and corrode very easily. Get a cast iron one from Napa for a '69 350 and paint it with aluminum or cast iron grey.

My '76 has one that's 45 degrees and has a long and short bolt. The long bolt is to the driver side. Sorry, but I can't tell you where it was purchased because it was on the car when I bought it.

Default since you bring up that part of the engine....

What the heck is the square bolt on top of what looks like the water pump at the front of the engine on my l48 small block? I've attached a photo and wonder why they put that square bolt on there.

I'm being lazy as there is probably a book on the engine in the pile of manuals I have for the car now but thought a photo would be easier for someone more knowledgable to answer the question.

The white arrow points at the bolt.

Thanks.

Thats blocking off the thermostat bypass. On Corvettes there should be bypass hose running from the intake manifold by the thermostat to the top of the waterpump, A lot of been deleted over the years when aftermarket intakes are installed or waterpumps replaced. This makes for even heating of the motor upon startup.

These pics show what it should look like.

You can use the housing that has a long and short bolt.

That's just another inlet port for the water pump. On small blocks it's unused. The thermostat bypass on a small block in integral to the pump and located in the pass side mounting flange.
