My neighbor has an '82 model with 96000 miles. When you crank it and press down the brake pedal, the pedal goes to the floor and the brake light comes on. You can pump the pedal and it's ok for awhile. We bled the brakes and checked for leaks and couldn't find any but that didn't help. Any suggestions? Thanks.
There is a sticky on the Tech section all about the wonderful C3 brakes. The problem you are describing is very commen and can come from a number of places.
If you pump up the brakes and keep your foot on the brake, does is slowly go to the floor? If it does and there are no leaks anywhere then I would suspect the master cylinder is allowing the fluid to get past the seals.
