OK guys this is your time to show your true corvette trivia. My wife and I are sitting around watchin a show on the History channel about cars and their hood ornaments. The names of the cars were being explained as to their origin. When my wife said, "Where did the name Corvette originate from" ? Any help on this will be helpful. OH, did I mention we were having a Martini when this question arose? Oh well, we'll have another martini and wait to hear your answers. Love this site...Keep up the good work!
Well they say the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. I knew to go to the experts and you guys came through once again. Cheers, and have a great weekend.
The name Corvette originated from the french word corvair and was a small lightly armored warship. How many of you knew that you were driving a Corvair ?????

It's one of those confusing parts of Mustang lore, they were said to be inspired by the P-51 but decided to go with the horse.
