I am asking what others use to buff and polish there Vettes? I am Extreamly familiar with buffing Gel coat on Boats but not so much for paint on cars. I have several buffers, all heavy duty. The Milwakee buffers will be too much. I have a couple light weight Makita variable speed, one utilizing a Dual action head. For Gel coat we use wool pads, these are far too agreesive for paint though. I was thinking of a synthetic pad or maybe foam pads. What about compound? I have a variety of 3m products. The paint is not bad on the car, but I would like to buff and polish. Suggestions are welcome. thanks Al
If, that doesn't do it for you....try checking out JUNKMAN 2000 videos about the use of the Porter Cable....you should be able to link up with him through the Adams site.
Stay in tune....

Being that you are a boat guy...you might be familiar with Rejex which is/was for boats. There are a lot of guys on the C5 & C6 forums that swear by this stuff. I use it on my boat and it lasts forever but never heard of it on the vette till the other day.
I use 3M paint buffing products:
- Course Wool pad (for 1st stage buffing wet-sanded paint, and Perfect-It course compound)
- Medium wool pad (for 2nd stage buffing, and Perfect-It compound)
- Foam Pad (for final polishing and removing swirl marks - using Perfect It II foam pad compound) Also use this for just sprucing up a previously buffed paint job.
Burning through paint is not a big factor if you are using a medium wool pad or foam pad. Use care though. I also use a Makita rotary buffer. Not my favorite buffer though.
For buffing gel coat I prefer the Millwakee variable HD buffer. It is very heavy but fits my hands better. The Makita is light weight and ergonomically cumbersom. Al
