Default Missing odd interior Door part - '73 Vert

I have circled the location of the (missing) attaching screw - on the driver's side. I found out what is supposed to go inside by looking at the passenger side (it is not missing there). It is some sort of black plastic water diverter.

This item does not show in the AIM or parts manual.

Does anyone know where I can get this odd item?

I'm hoping Coupes have this...

No, that's not it. That Corvette Central item looks like a sill plate item (perhaps)?

Thanks for trying, though!!!

Yes they do, not sure where to buy a repro or if they're even made.

Hi uf4,
It's called out as 'shield' in the AIM. It's plastic with a strip of pressure sensitive adhesive on it.
In the 71 AIM it's in UPC 1, Sheet K7, Handle, Lock and Guide pin. Item #14; 3966779 for the left side.
I don't think I've seen them in catalogues, but I see them at Carlisle at some of the used parts dealers. If you call around I'd think you could find one.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

And I never find anything on eBay - just lucky on this one.

I don't think anyone reproduces this.

Alan - no problem. Can't see and hear quite like I used to (either).

I'm probably one of the older Corvette enthusiasts here (66.5 and counting)

I moved too fast. Bought the $7 ones on eBay.

Bubba was quite busy removing some interesting parts off my '73. Makes you wonder - why would someone take that item out (and leave the passenger one in)

Thanks to you guys for helping here!!!

Bubba or the previous owner probably worked on that side and realized what a PITA that plastic shield was and just simply left it off in case the lock needed further attention, it serves its purpose well shielding the latch Peace,,,moosie

The links are out of date, but if this part is what I am thinking, it is like a rectangular shape - a 3 sided black plastic piece.

I see the consensus is for water diversion... I was wondering if it was early attempt at theft prevention... as it may be enough to deter a slim jim.

hmm - now I see anti-theft would not be it, as now I realize the slim jim would insert inside the plastic shield area.
