Default Finally adding some power

Finally to the point of changing the carb and redoing the exhaust on my 77. I am not looking to go over the top just going to make it run more like it should (for now). I am in debate on which carb to get but my real concern is the mufflers. I am going to put headers and true duals on it (out the back) but I can't decide on which mufflers to get. I am looking for a nice beefy deep muscle car tone but nothing loud and obnoxious. Something that sounds like it means business at idle and roars nicely threw the rpms. I have done lots of exhaust in past years but all have been built monsters and this is the first vette so not real familiar with cam profile to know what sounds good and what sounds like crap. Motor is stock right now and the only mod on this motor is going to be a better carb and headers/exhaust. So what does everyone have on their cars that sounds good?

Here's mine when I'm pulling out of the garage and driving down my driveway.

Probably a little more loud and obnoxious than you want

Others can chime in if Im wrong, But I would save the cash on the headers. They are not going to help - Unless you change the heads. In fact you may loose some power with the headers and stock set up. All you need to wake the car up is true duals, adjust the carb. and advance the timing (play with the springs in the distr. so it's ALL IN around 2000-2600 RPM's. You will DEFINITELY feel an inprovement. And the true duals will sound great.

Main reason I was putting headers on was to make it easier to put exhaust on. I'd rather be able to bolt exhaust to headers than weld new pipe to old pipe in case I have to take it back off later or if I decide to change things later on. Only thing I've ever noticed when changing from manifolds to headers is manifolds had more back pressure and torque but headers helped top end because they helped with flow. Either way anything will be an improvement over the 2 into 1 choker pipe that's on it now.

Sounds good, I especially like the gear drive whine I like the way it sounds but it does sound just a smidge louder than I'm looking for I got my fill of loud exhaust with my dirt car with 180 degree headers and I promised the wife I wouldn't have anything that would rattle the windows in the house from the garage again (till I get another racecar )
