Default 80 Headlight switch question

My 80 dash is out and I am about ready to put it back in, but the headlight switch is loose. How do I tighten it back up? Also which way should it be in the car? By that I mean which way should the part for the harness connector be facing? I never had the switch out because I couldn't figure it out. Thanks!

There is a center threaded barrel that goes through the black "LIGHTS" plate to the dash and pulls the switch to the dash pad from the back. If I can I find a picture of it from an assembly manual I will post it or someone else may beat me to it.

I see what you are talking about. I pulled the dash out of my car about 4 years ago and forgot how I took some of these things out. On another note, the windshield washer switch is held in the bottom with a screw. Is the top held in with anything or will it be more secure when everything is hooked up?

The harness plug of the headlight switch should plug in the top of the switch. This also makes it easier to attach the vacuum lines.

As for the wiper/washer switch it is held in by the screw on the bottom and a clip on the top.

Just a suggestion for wiper switch: insert the screw just so that it grabs. This way you can manuever the switch to plug in the two plugs of the harness through the speedo/tach hole of the dash. Once plugged in, use a socket/ratchet to tighten the screw and the switch should become flush into place.

I just went through this when replacing my dash over the last few months. Good luck!
