Default Trying to ID a distributor

I came across a box full of parts and found a distributor (Delco-Remy) with this part number: 1103749

During a search I have found it referenced to a 1990 Caprice and a 91 Camaro 305. It is not an HEI as there is no coil on the top.

Could this work on a Vette and if so what years?

Thanks

All C3 points type distributors are tach drive. If you install your Caprice distributor in your Corvette, you lose the tach.

Mike - There is no tach drive port on this one. It has two electrical connectors at the base. I did not intend to use it on my 82, I was just curious if it could be applied to a Corvette. I need to pop the cap and see if it is a point or pointless type distributor. I plan on selling it but wanted more info on possible applications. Thanks.

Call your local Chevy parts folks and have them look up the part number. They should be able to tell you whether it might have been used in a C4.

My Delco info is a little vague when you get past the late 80's, but near as I can tell, that distributor had various applications for 350's (5.7ltr) in trucks from around 87-92 and 350 Camaros, Firebirds and Caprices in 91-92.

It will probably fit in most pre LT-1, C4 Corvette 350's, but whether it would function properly, is another story.

It is an HEI distributor. The coil and plug wire retaining ring, are probably not on it, but I'm pretty sure that it uses the cap mounted coil.

There wouldn't be a tach drive on yours, or any GM electronic/HEI distributor (of course except the 60's-early 70's T.I. ignition). 1974 was the last year that Chevrolet used the mechanical tach, the tach drive distributor, and the point based ignition system. From 75 on, all Chevrolets used an electronic tach and electronic ignition distributors.

I'll get a pic posted tonight. It does not have the cap mounted coil. It requires a separate coil and has the centre coil wire plug on the cap.

I'm still sorting through the huge box of parts and taking pics of the stuff I want to sell. Look for a big for sale ad in the C3 parts for sale section soon (mostly 78-82).
