Oh no, now you have taken the fun out of your car, always having to worry if the paint is going
to get scratched or even just rock chips from a weekend race. Should be very nice when
you get it back, your car has always looked killer though.

I would love to have my body work and paint done but I think I wouldn't have much fun
with the car after all that was done. I would be afraid of messing up the paint when going out
and hammering on the car out on some back country roads or just a simple little auto cross track.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Riggs.

Sounds like your painter got a bad case of "while I'm in there". Let me know when he is done, I'll send my car with a new hood that needs to be matched. Now that you have a concourse quality paint job, don't turn into a concourse weenie. Drive it like you stole it, or at least like you stole the paint job.

He called today and said the only panel that was not in primer was the drivers door. The whole car is getting a repaint and then clear coated. It will come back looking like a show car. He will not charge me for all the labor as he has a lot of hours in it but realizes he went a little overboard. I will probably be afraid to drive it for fear of knicking it. Not to worried though, I told him I wanted it right. Going to cost more but what the he$$ its only money. He painted it 18 years ago so it needed a little refresh. I only thought a little refresh not the whole deal. Should be home in about 2 weeks as color is going on tomorrow. I'll certainly post up the pics when I bring it home.

C’mon G!!!!

You know he has a sickness and can't help himself!! I just wanted a couple of scratches wet sanded and buffed out of my Z06 and he wet sanded, cleared and re-wet sanded the entire car!! Now I hate to get the dang thing dirty or dusty because it looks so good

Every time I bring the 67 to Carlisle he insists on buffing the car to perfection. So don't tell me you didn’t know your car was going to come back simply awesome.....I guess you will have to put up with a killer paint job like me You poor thing Can't wait to see your car all refreshed and looking good after visiting the body shop spa, should look smokin with the new hood.

For those who do not know Gordon or I very well, NO paint job will stand between a car and the drag strip!!! Thanks again for your help this weekend, your always handy to have in the shop!!

Thread hijack! Jeff, your C2 looks hot!!!!!. Where can I see more pictures or learn more about it? Most C2 owners I know thinks that the car Zora built was perfect and needs NO improvement. Then I see yours and the C2 featured in the latest Popular Hot Rodding and I must admit I am being very unfaithful to my C3. Yes, lust is a sin and I'm a bad boy.

I spent the weekend at Jeffs doing some garage work. Just the two of us. We ate what we wanted and when, drank what we wanted and did whatever we wanted to. Just a good weekend. Oh and a little car stuff also.

As far as me becoming a show queen, FAT CHANCE on that. The car will and always will be driven hard and often. I have no fear of chips or getting it dirty. So it may look nicer when it comes back but it will still be the same car and get driven the same.

Bee Jay,

Here's a link to the Corvette Fever article when it appeared on the cover back in Nov of 2009, it also just appeared in Hot Rod Feb 2011, Populat Hot Rodding Feb 2011 and Chevy High Performance April 2011. It got all of that coverage from LS Fest last Sept when it ran a 10.80 @ 131 mph on street tires

Drive home was terrible. It snowed from about 10 miles north of the bridge to Salisbury. There was about 2 inches of slush. 10 miles north or Salisbury the sun came out and it was clear sailing the rest of the way. Took 5 1/2 hours. The house and Eric were still standing.

Before I re-read the post I thought you were having everything except the driver door painted. Now I see the whole car is getting paint and clear coat. Whew.

It started as just the new hood getting painted and then clear coating the car. It kind of got out of hand a little.

Definitly not lacquer. Not sure exactly what type of paint he uses but it is a urethane based paint if I remember correctly. He uses a new type of clear system also that is pretty tough to beat. I'll find out more about it when I pick it up.

G,
He has been using Dupont urethane base/clear for about 4 years. Your original paint was from Spies Hecker, used by many German auto makers as OEM original paint. Both are great products, but I really like the new Dupont clear.....it has a tough crystal appearance and it really provides great depth on dark colors. Your gonna love it!!

I knew you would know. I felt kind of stupid not knowing what paint he was using. I do remember it was a German paint he originally used. Can't wait to see the finished product.
