Default Windows can be such a pane

Thank you very much for all the information I have received from the forum but now that I have opened the Pandora's Box, I need to ask some more questions.

First, I have a 1974 C 3 Corvette Coupe.

I have ordered weatherstripping for the doors of my Vette. My question is this: Do the metal attachment clamps that I found in association with the old weatherstripping come with the order or do I have to order them separately ?

Second Question: The car does not have a rear window so I obtained a rear window and a frame. There is no gasket nor was there ever any. My question: I have two pieces, the window and the frame. How are they installed? Do they fit together and are then placed in the window as one unit? Does one use windshield caulking to connect the two pieces and then place them in the window? Doers anyone know how this works?

Thank you so very much for your help.

I'm surprised that you haven't gotten a response yet, Mike. But, it is Saturday and folks seem to be busy doing other things. Someone with a '74 AIM will have to answer the rear window question for you, as my '71 is removable and has a much different design. As far as the door weatherstrip goes, I think most places sell the "windshield post upper retaining clips" separately. (68-77 use the same clips)

On my 75, and I believe the 74 is the same, the rear window is held in place by butyl tape. The window frame then goes on afterward.

That's how my '74 Coupe's put together. I can post pictures but it won't be until later tonight.

The window frame goes on after the window is glued in. It dose not help keep the window in. And the metal piece do come with the new weather striping. I had to do that all last year on my 74.

I don't recall clamps on the door main weatherstrips. Post a pic of what you've found.

Second Question:

The 74 AIM would be a big help for you.

I have the AIM for he car but all I see is a frame and the glass and the frame is split at that. I do however, really appreciate all the assistance I get from you all and I always and grateful and will follow your advice. After going from Mustangs to Corvettes it is quite a difference but worth it (I guess). Keep me morally straight!

Thanks again

Come to find out mine's a single piece of plexiglass! No wonder I call it "FrankenVette".
