Love those chrome bumper cars. You have your work cut out for you but like you say, you knew that. Hopefully, it stays a fun project a majority of the time.
Hello Steve
When I got my car it was in boxes most parts were junk or the incorrect year. Lots of surprises some good but most not. Stay focused and work through the issues. I really love it when someone sees the potential in a car and makes new out of the old.
Scott
Thanks guyz, the car was originally blue/blue, I got boxes with red and blue interior most of them unusable. Definitely gonna save this one even though it's more of project than I originally thought.
Found this kinda interesting "stamp" on the frame, doesn't look factory to me or maybe I should say it looks like a transplanted stamp.

The VIN on the title match the numbers on the windshield post and the engine, I can't correlate these to anything?????
Those are some crude welds for sure. The good thing is that you are finding them now so the can be made safe before relying on those things with your life. Keep us posted
Picked up a fairly low mileage F body LS-1 with LS-6 intake with a new crate 4L65e trans. Should have it by later next week so if all goes well the body is coming off this weekend. The shop took these pic of motor and trans being crated up for shipping. The even found a set of shorty OEM headers kicking around the shop and bolted them on for me. Should be a nice combo for the SO. Hopefully I"ll have more pics by the end of next week
awsome project man. I'm actually in the process of resto-moding my 77. I actually got a chance to drive it a few times before i started tearing it apart. I'd always wanted the old body look with the power and performance of today. Love the idea of the LS, i'm putting a LS3 in mine to go with the TKO-600 i put in there a couple years ago. We could trade some ideas ont he restoration and maybe even come up with some new ones.

The LS3 will be awesome in the C3, really would have loved to do it for my car but since I'm doing it for the SO and we've got a Z06 in the stable already I decided (with input) to go with a milder build LS1/6 and the 4 speed auto. Should run fine and turn in some good MPG numbers on the road.
Great looking chassis clean up and restoration to better than new. Sure wish mine looked that clean in it's un-restored state.
I'm always open to sharing information, but I will say I'm not a wealth of knowledge on the C3 cars since this is my first C3 project, should have kept the C1 and C4, had them figured out
I did find out yesterday that a company called Shiftworks makes a retrofit kit for the OEM auto shifter in the C3's so you can control a 4 speed auto with the original shifter. Even comes with a new window showing the correct gear selection. Not a factor in you mod but someone else might find it useful
Also Josh over at Custom Image Corvettes has a real nice fuel pump set up (external) good for ~600+ HP.

luck have it i'm in San Diego all week and just happen to be 45 mins away from where the engine was being built so i went and checked it out.......sorry for the low quality pics, all i had was my (old) cell phone camera
VERY NICE and from one of my favorite places too. Love the San Diego area, got some good friends in Fallbrook and further up the coast in San Dimas. You gonna so an EFI throttle body or a traditional carb?

yeah..got a Holly 750 4 barrel at home waiting for it.....only bad part is that i couldn't find anymore that makes long tube headers for it to fit the C3 body without having to do side pipes......so now I'll either have to find someone to do it or build it myself........guess I'll deal with that when the time comes.
BTW.....this is my first car build ever......let a lone a C3...so I'm learning as i go....
Little update on the project today, make a dolly a few weeks ago and when I good buddy came over to NC from WV I pressed him into service pulling the body. I've seen several different hoist options used but this one may give you guys a chuckle.

The frame has some pretty significant damage so I'll be taking it to a local shop to have them evaluate how tweaked it is and go from there.
Well after a rather long hiatus and the purchase of two frames I'm back on track or at least I hope to be!
started on the water pump mod and engine clean up.

Hope to have the engine and trans painted by Sunday evening and maybe couple them together and do a test fit in the frame to see how the crossmember lines up with the transmission mount.
I'll post some pics of the frame and suspension once I get things a little more sorted out.
Got the trans painted, motor still needs another coat.
