Speedometer quit working, so I removed the cable and noticed that the plastic portion that enters the speedometer had broken inside the speedometer. Proceeded to take apart the dash and remove the speedometer so I could get the broken portion out and install a new cable. No luck, I can't get the plastic portion out of cable housing inside the speedometer. It seems to have twisted off inside and isn't budging. Is there any way to push the broken plastic piece out?
I had the speedometer rebuilt by Wilcox last year and it’s been working fine until this happened.

That's exactly what happened to mine. I used a small dental pick as well. If it's really stuck you could drill a very small hole in the plastic and put in a equally small screw in the hole, then pull. That was my plan B if the pick didn't work.
I use what is called bowden cable. It is a spring wire about 1/32" just like what is used in a lawn mower or on a heater control cable.
I take my wire cutters and make little pinches on the side to create teeth.. I then this up with a torch and insert it in the back of the head. When it cools down the plastic piece pulls out with it.
What ever you do don't move that adjustment lever on the speed cup too..
