I am looking for a 1982 Vette. What is a fair price? What do I need to look for on these? I like this year and am looking at a few between $13500 and $16900. The one thats $16900 is at a dealer in Oregon and has 57000 miles. Is that a fair price or is it high? My C5 is lonely in the garage with a truck and Sky. It wants another Vette in there. I hope its not planning to make baby Vettes.
Seems a little on the high side to me...BUT with 57K on its clock that equates to less then 2000 miles a year (which is low even for a Corvette)...who really knows....
That said I can wrench...so I buy cosmetics Paint/interior etc)
Bottom line...IF it were my car 10 Grand would be the least I would part with it for... if it was in "good" ..overall condition
82s in need of some work go for 4-$8000.when you get the lower mile cars the price goes up .but they also will need work to get them on the road .i just looked at one that needed carpet and a little TLC ,126000miles for $6000.
I was thinking that seemed high. I think I should keep looking. I like the later C3s. I want an 82 because the electronic Qudratoilet was junk. Al though throttle body's aren't great either.
i suggest not buying one from a dealer and look look and look some more and then when you think you are done keep looking... when you've looked about 50 different cars you may have a better feel for condition of these cars as well as some problems that may occur. and when one comes around you will know that you made an informed decision

That sounds like good advice. It's not like I need it or anything. It will be a garage queen anyway. I like to drive the C5 or my truck. I just want it for every now and then and parking lot shows. In this economy it's a good time to buy toys you don't need.

Of course I am already hearing about having 4 cars in a 3 car garage. This is my solution so far.
I think she knows whose car is leaving the man cave. It ain't my truck like she says.

i think you will be happy with the 82 .if you want more power ,we can fix that .but you will like the 20+mpg.look at the new intake they have for the cross-fire.http://www.crossfireinjection.net/
A close friend of mine had an 81 when it was new. I had a lowered Chevy Shorty PU with a custom paint job. He would trade me often as he needed the truck for one reason or another. I really liked that car. He was not good at wrenching so I did most of his work on it. It was not too bad to work on. I wanted either one of those or a C5. I found a good deal on a real clean C5 so I got that. I find I still want the C3. I do think the C5 is going to get driven a lot more though. I don't need fast or I would have just bought a C6. I like the C6s but I like the C5s and C3s better so why pay so much more. I can have both for less this way. I want to build an RV garage and shop any way. This will give me an excuse.
the good thing also right now you can find alot of cars that were started as a body off and ppl either lost interest, funds or time... also bc of sites like this they tend to document everything they did. i think your best bet will be finding one that someone started and lost interest and be able to pick up a killer deal on something that has been mostly restored and you can take it from there...
