I stopped by the shop this morning to see how my 69 was coming along. They had started to install the carpeting, but something didnt look right.
Carpet set came with the car, but was out of the boxes. Appears as if it is a bit too dark. Does not match the bright blue cover on the rear storage compartment lid or on the bright blue floormats (still have tags attached)
What are the chances that the carpet color would not match the brand new bright blue storage compartment color which is the same as the bright blue floormats?
Should I just suck it up and order a bright blue carpet set before the rest of the interior gets installed and I eventually have to rip it all out again? Only about $250.
I'd just go ahead and buy a new set. Ebay the set to somebody who doesn't care.
I always think how much would I pay afterwards to have it correct. I've paid more than $250 - For instance, I bought a "rebuilt" trans at a swap meet. I paid my trans shop $500 to make sure it was rebuilt. My point being if I had just put it in, would I pay $500 to not have to take it out. Yes, worth it.
I think you need to correct this before its done. If you go with the setup you have, it will eventually eat at you until you get it replaced. Right now you may be settling with it, thinking it may be ok. But in the end you will probably do what you said. Order a complete set, and rip out the old. Only then you may not be able to resell it someplace to recoup some of the costs.
The name of the color is also dependent on the year in which that color 'name' was used. "Bright Blue" in 1968 may be a different hue than "Bright Blue" of 1970, for example. I think the carpet set you got was not correct for your car.
