What is the difference in inches between a 68 headlight and a 69? I'm talking about the part that is on the body. How much wider and taller is it?

I've read the 68 headlight doors changed three times during production, getting about 1/4 wider with each change. Final production is the same size as 69-82. Actual 68 doors have rounded lugs for mounting the headlight capsules; 69 and up use squared off lugs. No big deal since none of it shows with the bezels in place.

If your 68 hood surround panel is original, measure the headlight openings and compare to possible 69-82 units you might want to install.

Tevroc98, how did you make out with your headlight. I just bought a restored 68 and the drivers side bucket was re-installed after paint, however sits aout 1" lower than the passenger side light. I don't have an AIM for a 68, and am in the processor buying one, however I wanted to know what resources you used to research the various dimensions available for the 68 model and if they were helpful. Hearing that there were several versions, there is a good chance the PO may have mismatched components during restoration.

Thanks!

Hi L,
I looked at the driver's side head-light door in your delivery post. Only see it in the closed position.
It's the right size but looks like it needs to have the closed stop adjusted.
The fit between the hood surround, hood, and headlight doors in general isn't great, but that could be for many reasons.
You should be able to get the door to fit more flush with the surround.
Regards,
Alan
