Default 76 stingray value

After having this car myself for about 6 years and in my family since the early 90s, I have decided to sell it because I doubt that I will ever actually work on it.

I have googled for values and I saw that in poor drivable condition it would be worth about 7800. I know its not worth that

About the car:
1976 stingray ttop not the L88 350ci auto transmission 58000 miles all matching numbers
starts everytime drives in the driveway
has not been driven but in the driveway for the last 10-15 years
new bfg radial TA tires 3 years ago
steel wheels with all trim parts
all new calipers master cylinder and proportioning valve
no carpet, weatherstripping, or drivers side dash (part that the speedo and tach are in) the speedo and tach are boxed up.
all interior but the seats are boxed up, but available, seats are in great condition, miner blemishes on drivers seat
new battery, rebuilt the carb about 1.5 years ago
drivers floorboard has some rust holes (you can drop the keys through one of them)
paint is original and quite faded
No body damage (perfect except paint is old)
no exhaust just downpipes from headers
telescoping and tilt wheel works all electronics minus the horn work.
and I may have installed the transmission cable wrong 12 years ago when I was 13, shifter acts funny sometimes
Rear rotors have not been drilled out

With the interior put back together some fresh paint and replacing the few items that need to be replaced this would be a great car, I just dont have the time or want to do this.

What should I be able to get out of this car? Id like to get 4500-6000, I may be pushing it but that's what I want, is that a good starting point?

I can take pictures for better estimates if need be.

I appreciate any help offered.

I think you could be pushing it if you asked more than $4500 going by the description and the pics. If it had a new paint job, maybe, but right now its a "project" car. Your gonna have to find someone who wants to take on what is not finished including a $3000 paint job unless they wanna drive it around like that. I would be willing to bet you won't get even $3500 for it. Not trying to be mean, hurtful, or whatever, but right now, it is a little harder to sell these year vettes for good money.

I dont take it as being mean, I just dont know what its worth, I may just try to sell it for 4500 and see what kind of offers i get, I dont have to sell :P

yeah it was taken apart over a decade ago, I may just hold on to it and maybe in another 10-20 years I may feel like fixing it.

Why not sell is for a reasonable price to someone who has the time and interest now in fixing it and using it? does it no good to sit around in that kind of shape and someone who really enjoys it could begin the process of using it. It's not like $3-4,000 is a lot of money for a car these days.

I'd say that the price-point for those comparison-shopping a car like yours will be the solid running-and-driving '74-'77's (or or up through '82, if the buyer is simply in the rubber-bumper market) that are available today. There seem to be many such cars out there today in the $6k-$12k range for the good-to-excellent examples.

So taking that as a starting-point, work back to what it would cost to bring your car up to the level of those cars: paint, weatherstripping, reassembly-time, rusty floor-repair, unforeseen expenses, etc.

You can see quickly how a prospective buyer can be deterred from choosing your car, as the cost to bring it up to the level of its competition will likely cost more than buying one of those other cars outright today.

The most likely buyer for your car is someone who does not have a lot of up-front cash, who has the means and ability to work on a project, and who is actually looking for such a project. The buyer is getting a clean title and a lot of parts to work with, but not really a car to enjoy driving for quite some time. That's a very limited market, which is why I think the <$3,500 valuations are most accurate.

I appreciate all of the input, I dont disagree with any of it, this car would be a project car for someone, in my opinion a good one in the long run. im going to give it a couple of weeks to decide what
i want to do.

Again thanks for all the help :P
