If you really want to fix it you may start by looking at inserts...

Looks like you'll need at least the rocker insert and pillar reinforcement...

Thank you, finally someone willing to point me in the right direction....

Is this the piller reinforcement that I need for the doors? It says rear but it looks like the bottom of the piller where the door hing mounts too.

I've never been involved with this extensive a repair, just know some vendors offer patch parts for the birdcage. I'm pointing you to the area where this vendor offers parts for the birdcage. Other vendors offer birdcage repair parts as well, ZIP is another...

This appears to be for the front though I'm uncertain of it's orientation.
If you want to pursue this, best to call the vendor, have a discussion about what you're looking for.

I don't think so. Purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM) for your model year. THE AIM shows all the parts of the birdcage and how they were welded together. Your mechanic will also apprieciate the diagrams when it comes time to make the repairs. Your door hinge posts are major components of the birdcage.

That one looks like it may be for the #3 mount. Another area this guy should check out. Remove the access plate located in the rear wheel well, front side, bottom. If that mount looks as bad as the #2's you showed us you'll be in for a lot of reconstruction work. It can be done, others have done some of this quite beautifully but it will involve hundreds of hours or labor to do well.

I posted another link which I think is for the front section, door hinge pillar. These are inserts, not sections, so they may not look like the original parts.

Well as for right direction only you can decide that, all I tried to do is give some advice based on my own experiences with a rusty birdcage.

Anyway going forward you might want to do a search on birdcage repair, birdcage inserts etc... as there is a lot of good information on the site already discussed along with pictures.

Here is one that I found in a few seconds doing an advance search on "birdcage inserts" under C3 General section, which seems to address how you might repair some of the rust problems you are experiencing and may be of some help to you.

and a couple more.

Good luck with whatever way you decide to go on this.

I believe that the OP is referring to a 25.5 SFI spec racing chassis. If you do a search on the net you can find more info on the subject.

I put the car on the lift and pressure washed the car and the floor pan have been changed. The body mounts in the front ares does not look to be damaged at all. Looks like most of the rust is in the bridcage area. I will get some pictures this weekend...

I do have a guy wanting to buy it for what I have in it so I may just let him have it and pick up a 68-72 and do an ls3 swap in it. Yes he knows the issues...
