Default horn wire

I just installed a budnik steering wheel on my 68. There is a ground wire and a male spade connector for the horn wire. There is no wire on steering column. Only a metal pin that sits inside a spring. Budnik says to splice to the harness. No way am I cutting my harness. Does any one no a good way to set this up. I am thinking of making a brass pin with a wire soldered to it that sits in the spring like stock to connect to horn button spade. Any ideas ? Thanks Rob

I know I've seen it done. If I remember right they soldered a wire to the spring, left the pin out and used the retainer to hold the spring down and in. Wire came up through the center of the retainer and goes on male spade of new wheel.
(You just have to make connection with the brass disc under the spring.)

edit-you might want to put a spot of hot glue on the retainer, its not really designed to hold much.

Thanks, I made a brass pin just like stock one. Soldered wire to that, then just dropped pin in spring.
