Default PW Switch Orientation - 73 Vert????????

I'm putting the Parking Brake console back together (new console) - and the PW switches will go in two different ways. The AIM has no detail on this. Of course, I didn't take any pics of this upon dis-assembly.

I realize that the electrical connectors will only go on one way - but it's easy to mount the switch either way.

Anyone have a pic on this one?

Thanks

Well, thanks. But car is somewhat apart and no battery to do this. Steering column out etc...

The wires should have some "memory"if they are original. If not, as I remember, they loop just opposite as you would expect. If that doesn't help, finish the console later when you have the battery to check.

If I am not mistaken, the switch wires come from the rear forward and then the switches can only be plugged in one way.

You will need battery power to test your switches. They can be installed upsidedown, but you won't know that until you can test them. I learned that lesson the hard way. Now they're marked L and R on the bottoms.

Looks like I will have to go with this suggestion. Thanks! There is some "memory" in these 38 year old wires. It appears that two of three connections are parallel to the rear of the car.

Here is a pic of the underside of the Parking Brake Console. I'm pretty sure I have it correct.

FYI

Nope, see that little prong sticking up ?
thats a keyway to insure you only install the switch in the correct oreintation,
if you mount the switch on the other / correct side of the metal plate.
remount the switch, and you will see how the switches are keyed to install only in the correct oreintation.

look at the switch on the right, just in front of that is a punched prong sticking up,
Next to the switch mounting hole.
they put that there to orenitate the switch installation.

there is one behind the switch on the left side too.
can't see it in the picture.

you have your switches mounted to the bottom of the plate,
they need to be mounted to the top of the plate.

OK. I see what you mean.

I'll see what I can do about the mounting. Thanks!
