Good luck with your offer to purchase the car, as the owner of a 68 coupe I would really like to see pictures of that color combo if you have them and have the time to post.

Your thoughts and comments welcome
If real, It would be a valuable car.

I knew someone, 30 years ago, that bought a similar Vette out of Bryan/College Station, Texas. I remember it was a heater delete car and had off road exhaust.

Might be getting closer to a deal on this car? Owners left me a phone message but I haven't been able to reach them with return calls?
Will post when/if purchase is made, or if price not what I want to pay, I'll forward contact info.

We'll see
If its a real 900 paint code car and a no hit body, almost rust free birdcage/frame etc, that alone is worth $10,000. The trim tag alone would selll for $3,000 maybe more to the right guy.

Can't wait to see pic's. If the heads are dated to the car then its more then likely an L89, those heads are few and far between. There is a difference between early and late L89's in 68 so do your research.

Maybe there are some trim tag "experts" on this Forum that can determine the differences from the reproduction tags and the real ones?
Please chime in.
To me, it looks like the original Black paint under the Red re-shoot----appears that the tag was not removed when the Vette was painted?

Sorry for the low quality photo---maybe I can clean it up?

Okay fellas,
Opine, comment, offer your thoughts, post any photos of known original 900 code trim tags for comparison, etc., etc.
G.

you may find an original 900 code trim tag out in the open market, but there is no way you are going to find one where the date lines up with the car's VIN and assembly date..

I know the trim tags of the C2 era are near impossible to duplicate and there are methodologies to spot the fakes.. but the C3 trim tags are lots more easilly counterfeitable..

the best spotters know how to spot one via the rivets....
