I'm using Gabriel gas shocks from NAPA. Everyone who rides in it says they are suprised how nice it rides, but it feels mushy to me. Definite upgrade in the near future.
I went with Bilsteins on all 4 on my '81. Cost a little more, but well worth it in my opinion. They have a nice smooth ride with just the right amount of stiffness. You should definitely replace all 4. My originals were 28 years old, completely worn out. Fronts are B36-0946-HD and Rears are B46-0956-HD(Heavy Duty)
I went somewhere in between and bought KYB twin Tube new shocks front and rear..gas...and found they are as advertised..a bit stiffer than stock but have a good ride. They are not racing shocks nor do they cost what Billsteins cost. More than adequate for non racing cars.
The CW is always: Billsteins but they seem very expensive to me for riding around town on. Racing, yes, regular....just a bit better than Delcos seems to work fine for me and I took mine to the road track for a day recently..they did fine.
