Default Coolant overflow tank Hose question

hi, i have a simple question, i feel pretty dumb asking, the coolant overflow tank cap has 2 outlets, i know one goes into radiator via the little spout near the radiator cap but where does the second hose go. the assembly manual is not clear so i wanted to ask the helpful bunch on this forum

thanks in advance

On my 74, the hose just runs down the inside of fender. I think it's for when the bottle is overfilled (dumps excess coolant on the ground).
Cheers,
Gav

Think of the second hose as an air vent for the coolant recovery tank and it all makes sense.

Or think of it as an overflow dump on the street escape hose. That makes sense too, or it did back in 73. In 68 they didn't even bother with a recovery can, just dumped overflow onto the street.... or your driveway... or your garage.

Nope- '73 was the first year of having a non-pressurized coolant recovery tank and the ability to run with a radiator filled 100%. Prior years had pressurized expansion tanks requiring an air space .

Apples and oranges.
