Default There she goes...

Just had the guys from Mo' Muscle-Muscle Cars come and pick up the vette. They put her on a trailer, and took her to the shop.

Ive given them a list of stuff I would like to do, and they are supposed to let me know tuesday how much the damage is. This is the list I gave them...

Replace / Repair all the wiring, and any problem switches (I know it needs a new headlight switch, High beam selector switch, power window and lock switches)

Try to get all the gauges functional. Most work but some do not.

Restore the interior.

Clean up the engine compartment so that it does not look like a mess of wire and hoses running everywhere.

Replace a few missing trim pieces (there appears to be something missing where the interior door panels wrap over to the window, and the rear corvette script is missing, though I’ve already got the replacement, I cant figure out how get my hand in there to attach it)

Paint (current paint looks halfway decent but its a cheap job, and it shows)

Check into putting headers / side pipes on it, and see what we can do to boost performance.

So... what do yall think? Im worried Im gonna be broke here in a few weeks...lol.
Heres a link to the pics of what condition shes in now:

The boys at Muscle aren't planning on working cheap and we already know that good parts aren't cheap. If Muscle is a quality shop, my guess is twenty thousand. That's a lot of money to dump into a 78.
Hope you're planning on keeping it in the family for a while.

Except for painting, why not do all that work yourself? Too me, that is the fun and satisfaction for owning my car.

I'd say $17,000 and then, if lucky, you will have a $17,000 car.

Actually, I started tinkering with it myself, but that sad fact is that I work 12 hrs. a day 6 days a week and just dont have time. I got this car as a mothers day present for my wife (she has always wanted a 78, its the year she was born) and I want it to be top notch for her. So...I gotta do what I gotta do. If momma aint happy, aint nobody happy.

$14,300 is my estimate. A quality paint job is extremely labor intensive. What's the prize for being closest to you actual cost?

I could've done most of that except paint , and wouldn't have charged nearly as much =]

Neat car, cant wait to see it after the semi-restoration.

These guys came over and took your car with no kind of estimate involved? That's as good as a blank check to them...... you just made their day.

I feel your pain on the not having time to work on these things. Mines been apart for 3 yrs now. So I can empathize with the idea of having someone else get it done and fast so you can enjoy it. Shame is you got a nice big garage there to work on it.

And this is for your little lady.... you better get lots of APPRECIATION if you know what I mean. Good luck with it. Keep us up to date on the progress.

Well, they took it to their shop to go over it and provide the estimate. If I decide to let them go ahead with some of the work, then the time spent in going over the car is not charged, if I don't let them begin work on it, its a pretty reasonable hourly rate that we've already decided on. I really don't think they will rake me over the coals too bad, The owner of the shop is a hunting buddy of mine.

Yes sir, it is for the warden. I have been "appreciated" for it quite a bit already...lol...and its not even done yet!

Doesn't look bad right now....however I would add to the list to replace that foam air cleaner with maybe a stock unit.....it's a fire waiting to happen.....oh and I hope you have a high credit limit.

Ok, so far Im into it for 3500. That takes care of ALL of the wiring and bad switches. All going to be replaced with new factory replacement harnesses. Then on to other things. I set the limit on it at 6000 for now, and I guess I'll just wait and see how far that gets me.
