Why don't you fix it yourself? Usually the internal solid state regulator ('69 and later) goes out; easy to replace, and pretty inexpensive. Other failure points are the diodes, brushes, and bearings. The entire unit is easy to remove, take apart, and put back together.

Go with what came off of it. Over the counter at the generic auto parts houses. They will want your old one as a core.
If yours is original and you want to keep the date codes, rebuild it or have rebuilt.
