Default Window trim question

I am working through replacing the entire interior of my '80, changing the color from doeskin to black as I go. I have new windshield trim pieces, which are black plastic. I also have black dye for the t-top trim and the header moldings.

My question is for anyone who has used the spray-can dyes: Should I paint/dye the black plastic for a better match to the t-top/header moldings? Or just install the black plastic as-received? Just wondering if it is worth the hassle to paint parts that are already black.

I'd suggest comparing painted against unpainted to see the difference. If there is no noticible difference, then I wouldn't paint the unpainted surfaces. That's just me tho...

I haven't tried the rattle can. My suggestion would be to purchase a quart of SEM automotive interior dye and shoot it yourself. Sprays like lacquer.

SEM is good stuff.

My .02: why change the interior color?

Yes. If you want a good match for all the plastic/vinyl interior pieces, dye them all. But, be sure you clean all of the pieces...even the new ones...or the dye won't stick well. And, I much prefer the dye quality of liquid SEM dye. But, I have used the SEM spray can dye and it worked well, too. (Don't know about the other brands.)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll experiement and see how things look. I'll post pictures when I have something worth posting.

I'm just painting a few smaller parts, so I got the rattle cans from Eckler's (prep, promoter, black dye, satin clearcoat). Most of the big parts have deteriorated and need replaced, so one can of dye should be enough. With none of the equipment to spray from the quarts, the rattle cans work better for me.

Regarding 'why the color change': most everything in the interior needs replaced or refreshed anyway, and I think black goes much better with the yellow exterior than tan. I'm not a fan of the doeskin color, but to each his own.
