They just passed a law here in Pa. allowing period tags as long as your car is titled an antique or classic (up to '75)
but you must have the tag and send them a picture and then they send you a proper registration card.
I just put "Dealer" tags on my '72 that I picked up at a flea market at a local car show

This is exactly how it went for me when I registered my '79 a couple of years ago.

I just did a 2-year renewal on my 1971 "year-of-make" plates, and it was $99 in Broward County. I like the way the dark blue 71 plate looks compared to the baby blue antique plate against the Mulsanne Blue car. Plus it's just cool to have the vintage plate. Mine was originally an Indian River County tag (32) but that doesn't matter to me.

Check out the period black plate on this silver '68 L88

Of course a regular vanity plate works best when it says this:

So after looking on Flea-Bay and seeing some old FL plates, I found one I liked and I bought it, it is a bit weathered but nice, I got it for 20.00$.
So it is a gamble if DVM will approve it. I started looking on the internet and found Nice Gentleman in FL that has NOS Antique FL plates that have never been on a car, they have never been issued. I bought 2, one is a 1968-1969 and the other is 1969-1970. He says he has more if anyone is interested. I have his phone # and e-mail if anyone is would like to contact him. I might buy one for a 71 and 72, just in-case if I come accross a great deal or sell my 1969 SB vert for a BB.
